My wife and I love naan bread. We have been looking for a way to cook some outdoors. Â We have the dream of building an outdoor oven, but that has not yet materialized. Â We tripped over this idea online, about building a tandoor out of flower pots.
We decided to give it a try. This is our first version which is pretty small and inexpensive. Â I think it was about $25 total cost. Â We bought 2 pots the same diameter and two of those trays the pots sit on. Â All terra-cotta. One of the trays I drilled a small hole in with a masonry bit to put the handle though to make a lid. The other, I drilled many small holes in for the charcoal tray. Â I made a small square hole in the lower side of the pot to let the airflow through. Â Then cut the bottom out of the top pot to make the opening. Â Then put it all together. Took less than 20 minutes. Â We cooked chicken and vegetable kabobs, and finished it off with the naan. Â Pretty amazing. Â
