My wife and I love naan bread. We have been looking for a way to cook some outdoors. We have the dream of building an outdoor oven, but that has not yet materialized. We tripped over this idea online, about building a tandoor out of flower pots.
We decided to give it a try. This is our first version which is pretty small and inexpensive. I think it was about $25 total cost. We bought 2 pots the same diameter and two of those trays the pots sit on. All terra-cotta. One of the trays I drilled a small hole in with a masonry bit to put the handle though to make a lid. The other, I drilled many small holes in for the charcoal tray. I made a small square hole in the lower side of the pot to let the airflow through. Then cut the bottom out of the top pot to make the opening. Then put it all together. Took less than 20 minutes. We cooked chicken and vegetable kabobs, and finished it off with the naan. Pretty amazing.
